English Teaching Conference 2025: Best Practice on Deep Learning
The English Language Education Study Program, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), successfully held the 7th English Teaching Conference 2025 Best Practice with the inspiring theme “Deep Learning: Transforming Learning into a Mindful, Meaningful, and Joyful Experience in Language Teaching.”
The event took place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, in the Auditorium Room, T14 Building, Faculty of Languages and Arts, UNESA. It was attended by English Language Education students, especially those from the 2024 cohort, as part of their academic enrichment program. The conference becomes a best experiences knowledge-sharing forum that push the future educators to find out a new insight on deep learning in English language teaching.
This year’s conference featured two honorable speakers:
1. Dr. Ririn Pusparini, S.Pd., M.Pd. (Universitas Negeri Surabaya)
2. Henri T. P. Jatmika, M.Pd. (STKIP Al Hikmah Surabaya)
Both speakers shared inspiring insights that invited audiences rethink the goal and process of teaching English in this modern era.
Dr. Ririn Pusparini opened the discussion with a talk on the importance of deep learning as a transformative approach to teaching. She explained that deep learning pushes the students to connect knowledge over the contexts, engage in critical thinking, and develop emotional awareness while learning. “When learning becomes meaningful and mindful, it helps students clearly understand the knowledge rather than merely memorize it,” she explained.

Meanwhile, Henri T. P. Jatmika focused on how joyful learning can touch with academic rigor. He shared creative strategies and classroom activities that make students feel totally connected and motivated to learn English. His session also underlined teacher’s role in building an engaging classroom environment.

A Space for Reflection, Interaction, and Inspiration
At the conference, participants were actively bound in discussions and Q&A sessions. Many students expressed their enthusiasm for the topic which is deep learning, pay attention how deep learning could change the way English is teach and learned. The interactive part of the event is allowed students to share ideas, reflect on their learning experiences, and consider how they could apply these concepts in their future classroom’s environment.

The conference filled with excitement and curiosity as both speakers motivated students to make teaching as a joy process. By combine mindfulness, meaningful tasks, and joyful learning moments, teachers can make a better classroom experience that supports long-term learning and emotional growth.

At the end of the session, the moderator made reflection segment summarizing the core messages of the conference. Students were encouraged to see themselves not just as future teachers but as a better learning designers who inspire the others. All participants received E-Certificates as appreciation of their engagement in this conference. The conference closed with group documentation.
By conducting the 7th English Teaching Conference 2025, the English Language Education Study Program underlined its commitment to boosting innovative, human-centered, and reflective approaches to English language teaching.
