Studium Generale: "Research Proposal Writing: Practical Insights" - Part 2
The second session of the Studium Generale titled Research Proposal Writing: Practical Insights was successfully held on Friday, May 16th, 2025, from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM via Zoom. This follow-up session brought together students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts of the Undergraduate English Education Study Program, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), to deepen their understanding of research proposal components.
As in the first session, the event featured two practitioners: Dr. Ninuk Indrayani and Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Agung Wijaya Mahardika, who each addressed critical aspects of research proposal writing.
Dr. Ninuk Indrayani opened the session with a detailed discussion on research methods and instruments. She guided students through the process of choosing the right research design, explained the differences between qualitative and quantitative approaches, and highlighted the importance of aligning instruments with research objectives.
Following this, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Agung Wijaya Mahardika presented on data analysis techniques and shared key principles for achieving success in research proposal writing. He emphasized clarity, consistency, and coherence in presenting data analysis plans and encouraged students to connect their analysis directly to research questions and theoretical frameworks.
The session was highly interactive. Participants posed various thoughtful questions regarding methodology, sampling, instrument validation, and data analysis procedures. Both speakers addressed the questions thoroughly, ensuring that students left with clearer understandings and practical takeaways.
With the conclusion of this two-part lecture series, students are now better equipped to plan and write their research proposals with greater confidence and academic rigor. Unesa Undergraduate English Education Study Program hopes this initiative will continue to foster a culture of quality research and academic excellence.
